Is there any other advice that you would like to share?

"Always check in with yourself periodically throughout medical school, even if it is just a 5 minute check in. Make this check-in deliberate. Think about what direction you are headed in and why. This will help you focus your steps forward and will allow you to feel that every experience is very purposeful. At the same time, it will also allow you to realize when you are feeling uncomfortable and when you need to recruit help from loved ones to help you manage your time and duties. You are a fantastic human being. Be kind to yourself and be kind to others."

"Know that you are worthy, capable, valued, and most importantly be kind to yourself. You may trip a couple of times during this journey, but you will get back up, learn, grow, and flourish. You CAN apply and match Dermatology and you don't have to be on this journey alone. It takes a village, a community, and it's so important to lean on the support of those who care for you." - @DrWordofTeekz

"Once you make rank list, go through every program and think of at leas 5 things you would be great full for if you match there. This prepares you well for matching anywhere on your list, no matter how low you may go. Also really speak to your experiences as a minority applicant in medicine. You are desperately needed in the profession and will bring invaluable knowledge to your residency program. Become friendly with the DEI directors and go to all the optional events you can! Also have fun and enjoy the break from clinical duties. "
