Olas Picados

It feels good to serve a purpose.
You see, my body stretches roughly five miles- protecting my beautiful city

Keeping the rough waves at bay.

Everyone loves me!
Families, friends, and tourists constantly surround me.
I remember a child putting his hand on me and asking his mother what I did all day.

Keep the rough waves at bay.

I loved the feeling of the rocky waters splashing against me; it made me feel so powerful.
I enjoyed my people, my city, my country.

Kept the rough waves at bay.

That was until those same waters kept taking from me, little by little every day.
Each splash no longer felt empowering; they became strikes.
I was being robbed, and I had no choice but to give.

Keeping the rough waves from stopping me.

It was time to make a change, I could not handle being slowly eroded by something out of my control.
I had to leave my city, my people, my home.

Ninety miles of hope

Here we go.
