Deondra Montgomery

Deondra Montgomery is a first-generation, Afro-Latina third-year medical student at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She is originally from Southern California where she was raised by her Mexican immigrant family. Being the first in her family to graduate high school, to graduate college, and to now be in medical school, Deondra has experienced many obstacles and setbacks on her journey in medicine. While her journey has been a long one, she knows that her obstacles are not unique, and so she is a strong advocate for mentorship and diversity in medicine, and is excited to continue pursuing her passion of fostering Latine excellence as the Chair of Public Relations for LMSA National this next year.
 

In her spare time, she enjoys boxing, lifting, hiking, painting, solo traveling, cuddling with her cat- Mia, and creating social media content.
